If the pattern of the data points on the scatter plot looks linear, I would draw a linear line of best fit.
b) What steps would you follow to find a line of best fit? Include how you would calculate the residuals and what those results might tell you.
I would look at the points and try different lines to see which line fits all the points best. I would also calculate the residuals and look at which line has the least absolute value of the residuals. If the residuals are really large, then that would mean that the trend line is not accurate. The lowest absolute value the residuals have, the more accurate the line is.
