First, we worked with the colors, and decided on 10 as the whole, so red would be 4, white is 4, and blue is 2. Then we matched the numbers, and since P(red OR odd)= 100%, we knew that there had to be odd numbers on the blue and white parts. Because P(blue AND 3)= 20%, and the blue compartment was 20%, we knew 3 had to be one blue. We then gave the white and red random odd numbers.
We knew that our spinner met the criteria, because the experimental probabilities were close to the theoretical probabilities. We did 100 trials, and P(red)=39/100 and P(white)=38/100 are close to the theoretical probabilities of 40% each. P(blue)=23/100 is also close to the theoretical probability of 20%.
